Option 1: Share and Transfer Ownership (Recommended for large transfers)
1. Sign in to the source Google Drive account (the account that currently holds the files/folders).
2. Select the files or folders you want to transfer by clicking the checkboxes next to them.
3. Right-click on the selected files/folders and choose "Share".
4. Add the email address of the destination Google Drive account (the one to which you want to transfer the files).
5. Set permissions:
In the share window, set the permission to "Editor" so that the destination account can edit and own the files.
6. Click Send.
7. Log in to the destination Google Drive account.
8. Accept the shared files:
The shared files and folders will appear in the Shared with me section of Google Drive.
9. Transfer Ownership:
Right-click on the file or folder and select "Share".
Click the "Advanced" option in the bottom-right corner.
In the sharing settings, find the destination account and change their role to Owner.
Click Done to confirm the ownership transfer.
Option 2: Download and Upload (Manual Transfer)
If you prefer to do it manually or if transferring ownership is not an option:
1. Sign in to the source Google Drive account.
2. Download the files/folders you want to transfer:
Right-click the file/folder and select "Download". Folders will be compressed into a ZIP file.
3. Sign in to the destination Google Drive account.
4. Upload the downloaded files/folders:
Drag and drop the downloaded files/folders into the destination Google Drive or use the "New" button and select "File upload" or "Folder upload".
Option 3: Use Google Takeout (For Complete Backup and Transfer)
If you want to move all your Google Drive files, you can use Google Takeout to export them to another Google account.
1. Go to Google Takeout: https://takeout.google.com
2. Select Google Drive:
Uncheck all other options and only check Google Drive to select the files you want to export.
3. Download the files:
Choose the delivery method, such as a link via email or export to a cloud service like Dropbox.
Once you get the download link, download the archive.
4. Upload to the new account:
Sign in to the destination Google Drive account and upload the downloaded files/folders.
---
Notes:
Sharing and transferring ownership works best for collaborative projects and will allow the destination account to maintain the files even if the original account is deleted.
Downloading and uploading is a good option for personal use or smaller files.
Google Takeout is useful for large-scale transfers of all files, especially when needing a complete backup.
These methods allow you to move or copy data between accounts seamlessly.
